After her divorce, she was left with almost nothing—just an old, worn-out shed. But instead of giving up, Heather poured her determination and creativity into rebuilding it, turning the forgotten space into a warm and inspiring tiny home.

While many dream of spacious houses, an increasing number of people today are embracing smaller living. Tiny homes offer simplicity, affordability, and freedom — proving that comfort doesn’t depend on size.
Heather understands this deeply. A former traveler who once lived on the road, she decided during the pandemic to settle down and begin anew. Her 10’x11′ shed might sound small, but she transformed it into a cozy full-time residence filled with personality and heart.
From the outside, the structure looks plain and rustic. Heather chose to keep the exterior minimal, unsure if she might one day take to the road again. But stepping inside reveals an entirely different world.
To the right, a small desk by the window serves as her workspace, offering views that spark inspiration. On the left, she crafted a snug lounge area with a swing-out table for movie nights and a couch piled high with cushions.
In the center, she combined her essentials — a compact kitchen, a wood-burning stove for warmth, and a tiny bathroom setup. Open shelving holds her dishes and pantry staples, while a vintage fridge from her mother stores both food and memories. Beneath the sink, she cleverly installed a composting toilet to save space.
Above it all, a loft bed provides a peaceful retreat for sleeping. But beyond clever design, what Heather loves most is how the space feels. “For the first time, everything is truly mine,” she says. “It’s small, but it feels so open and full of life.”
Heather’s tiny shed home is more than just a place to live — it’s a testament to strength, renewal, and the beauty of starting over.
