A San Francisco restaurant owner is recovering after surviving a terrifying knife attack that erupted when he asked a woman to leave his establishment over suspected drug activity.
According to witnesses, the incident occurred late in the afternoon at a small family-run restaurant in the city’s downtown area. The woman had reportedly been loitering near the entrance and acting erratically before the confrontation began.
The owner, who wished to remain anonymous, told reporters he initially tried to defuse the situation calmly. “I just asked her to leave,” he said. “I didn’t want any trouble, but she became aggressive right away.”
Security footage shows the woman pulling out a knife moments after being asked to exit. A struggle ensued near the doorway as the owner attempted to defend himself. Several customers rushed to call 911 while others helped restrain the attacker until police arrived.
Emergency responders treated the owner at the scene for a cut on his arm and minor injuries. He was later taken to a nearby hospital for observation and has since been released.
San Francisco police confirmed that the woman was taken into custody and faces multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon and possession of narcotics.
“It could have ended much worse,” said one officer familiar with the case. “Thanks to quick action from bystanders and the victim’s composure, no one was seriously hurt.”
The attack has reignited conversations among local business owners about safety and the growing challenges of dealing with erratic or violent behavior near their establishments.
Despite the frightening ordeal, the restaurant owner says he has no plans to close his doors. “This is my life’s work,” he said. “I love my community, and I’m not going to let fear stop me from doing what I love.”
